The main-site at FM-Britain is something of a two for the price of one affair as, since around September of last year, there has been an alternative main-site under the heading of LLM-Britain.  This second site, unsurprisingly enough, deals with some of the issues affecting Lower League Managers. The Footygamer Network (FGN) is the number one site for Football Manager related literature in my opinion. The recent “Blog Revolution” has ensured that the discerning FM reader has more material available to him (or her, I’d hate to be accused of sexism) than ever before, but FGN still stands head and shoulders above the rest. Following on from Wednesday’s article (kind of) where I suggested that as great a game as FM07 is, its release has seen a downturn in community activity (something which I blame on the laziness and greedy attitude currently permeating the community, a point which maybe didn’t come across as strongly as I intended it to), I’d like to go into greater detail on something I touched at the end of that article, playing FM Online. Is this the way to re-ignite some community spirit and add a new dimension to the franchise? (more…)

I know this is the third (maybe fourth) article on this subject to appear over the last couple of days, but I actually began writing it over the weekend and I’ve only just got round to finishing it. Better late than never I suppose. Am I going to offer anything different to the other articles? Maybe not, but it seems a shame to waste it.

Glancing around the FM Community it seems to me that Sports Interactive and the release of Football Manager 2007 have stopped the community dead in its tracks. Activity appears to be slowing down despite member numbers rising and there seems to have been move away from the sharing spirit that existed 12-18 months ago to a far greedier, “I want it, and I want it now”, demanding culture.
